As high-quality cotton does, this throw blanket only gets better with age, with the fibers loosening and softening after every wash. Add a monogram for an extra preppy touch or keep it in its simplicity.

Oftentimes the fluffiness of sherpa fools people into thinking that a blanket is thicker than it actually is, but this isn't the case with this throw. Both sides are sherpa material, making this blanket just as hefty and cozy as it appears on first glance. In the words of one reviewer, "Seriously the best throw blanket I have ever used. Snuggly, soft, cozy, and warm without being overbearing."

While many lower-quality sherpa materials have a tendency to pill and mat overtime with washing, this isn't the case with UGG's. The blanket holds its heft, keeping the fluffy texture. Colors stay true as well.

Fleece isn't known for being the heftiest and most durable of materials, but reviewers continuously say how this blanket breaks the mold. Surprisingly thick, one reviewer said, "even in cold winter nights when my room got below 60 degrees Fahrenheit, this blanket still kept me warm." At $15, some might be willing to sacrifice durability for coziness and settle on repurchasing every year or so, but this blanket has been known to last years through heavy use and washes without pilling or tearing. While fleece isn't the most luxurious material, for the price, this blanket blows the competition out of the water.

Wool is a luxury fabric, so be prepared to spend a bit more on it. This Silk & Snow throw is reasonably priced considering the indulgent fabric, which is handwoven by artisans from 100% baby Peruvian alpaca wool ("baby" refers to the softness of the material, not the animal's age). Cozy beyond belief, the blanket comes in a bit longer than many throw blankets and features a signature fringe for a slightly more elevated look. It is also surprisingly lightweight, so while you can expect it to keep you warm, you won't overheat. Oh, and did we mention that you get all this for $140? Bargain.

Cashmere for under $200? Say it ain't so! This throw blanket is made from 100% recycled cashmere, so while the quality is still exactly what you'd expect from high-end cashmere, the price is far better. Made in Italy, the blanket also sports a fringed bottom for a slightly more upscale look. As with most luxury fabrics, cashmere must be dry cleaned, so expect a little more upkeep with this blanket. But take care of it, and it will deliver years of unmatched coziness.

Cotton muslin is lightweight and breathable while still giving a bit of warmth and comfort, which is why it's a top material for baby blankets. But who says the little ones get in on all the coziness? While muslin cotton is preferred for those who sleep hot, anyone would enjoy this cozy blanket year-round.

While cotton might be one of the most common fabric fibers, not all cotton throw blankets are made equal.
